I did my morning pages at 6:00 today, pm not am. I wrote 5 pages and not three, was I just trying to make up for the fact that I haven’t written in the last week or so? A friend asked if I was starting to write more. I didn’t remember telling her I was a writer so I was pleased when I was able to say yes, I have. Compared to the last 10 years, the past year has been one filled with writing. I’d love for the next year, starting today, to be one in which I write every day or pretty close to every day. I can do it. I know I can.

End of the Winter Olympics

Wow,what an incredible olympic games. I watched everything from speed skating, ice skating, skiing, hockey even curling. I love it. It just seems like there is hope in the world when the olympics are going on. Goodbye Vancouver, Goodbye Canada!

Thoughts on Procrastination

I want to write some thoughts on procrastination but I guess I’ll wait until later. Kidding! You didn’t really think I was going to do that did you? I know, that is the oldest joke about procrastination ever. Ellen Degeneres did an entire HBO stand-up routine on procrastination. It was very funny!

I am a writer who is currently not writing. It is taking a severe toll on my emotional well being. I need to create and get what is in my head out of my head. For me, procrastination is all about fear. Fear is not real, if I can remember that then I am ok. The only thing that is real is that thoughts create things. So, thinking and actually putting down on paper or in a blog is getting the ball rolling in the right direction.

Confusion

Yes, I am confused at the moment. I am writing this at 9:30 on Sunday night. Three Rivers is supposed to be on CBS but it is not. Why not? I need to see Three Rivers, I need to see Shane. This is not a choice but a need.

One of the main themes of this blog is procrastination. How to get over it, why it happens, and how to roll with the fact that I have a serious case of it. This is why I’ve given this blog the title of “morning pages in the afternoon.” I have a desire to write every morning. But sometimes it doesn’t happen until the afternoon. And I’ve realized that life goes on even if I do my morning writing in the afternoon.

It is no accident that I chose WordPress.com as my blog. I like the idea of “word” being part of my blog just as words are a big part of my life. As I think back about my life choices in college, they were always about words, being an English major, also majoring in French. I love words, I always have and I love having the opportunity to use words in a new way, in this blog, every day.
